Montréal 2002-2003

(I must admit, I look really ugly on this id card (as usual), and the building behind
me looks more like a prison than a university...)
Since September 2002 I am spending two terms in Montréal, studying at McGill University.
When I came here I had different expectations towards studying abroad - I though it would be more a time of partying and travelling. But instead, the university is very time consuming here, especially in graduate courses you have assignments, presentations and projects all the time. Nethertheless there is still enough time to travel around a bit and to meet many really interesting people in this multicultural metropolitan city!
On these pages you find a small collection of photos of various occasions, which will be completed as time goes by. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to write a lot about the photos. I hope I will have the time to do this later.
In the following, there are some photos of Montréal and McGill campus, which is situated right between downtown Montréal and the small hill "Mt. Royal", which gave the city its name. Montréal has about 3 million inhabitants and is Canada's second largest city and besides Paris the biggest francophone city in the world.

Montréal has 4 universities: The french universities "Université de Montréal" and "Université de Québec à Montréal" and the english universities McGill and Concordia. McGill is one of the oldest universities in Canada, founded in 1821.
